Notes
  1. White" body panel: Some machines come with a thin white coating that can easily be peeled off.
  2. Differences between BZ02 and BZ07 models:
    1. The BZ02 has plastic side panels with a stainless steel rear, and the BZ07 as stainless steel wraparound body.
    2. The BZ07 is a narrower machine, and due to this, the water wand and steam wand are very close to each other.
    3. The steam wand and hot water wand are on a bi-directional, horizontal axis for rotation while the same on the BZ07 is multi-directional.
    4. The grouphead on the BZ02 is welded to the boiler and the heat transfers passively while the BZ07 has a heating element with a thermostat to control temperature.
    5. The steam and hot water wands are controlled by a rotational knob on the BZ02 and a spring-loaded handle on the BZ07.
  3. Grouphead: The brew group size of this machine is 58 mm. It will not fit standard E61 portafilters or other E61 parts.
  4. Direct connect option: We only sell the tank models at this time. There currently is no retro fit to turn it into direct connect.
  5. Steam tips: We have confirmed the GoldPro2Hole steam tip does not fit into this machine. We don't have any alternative steam tips at this time.
  6. Indicator lights: The green light on the machine indicates the machine is on. The yellow light on the machine indicates the machine has enough water. If the yellow light is off, that means there isn't enough water in the tank.

General Espresso Machine Notes/Warnings:

  • Upon first use (tank/reservoir models): On the initial start-up (or after a long period of non-use), it is important to make sure the pump is removing water from the tank. When the machine is powered on, you will hear the pump running. After 5 seconds, squeeze the in-line hose in the tank (usually the longest hose, has a particle filter attached). if you hear a different sound, this means the pump is working correctly. If not, immediately power down the machine and contact us. For more information, visit this page General Manual Pump Priming.
  • Electrical: To avoid electrical damage to this espresso machine which is not considered a manufacturer’s defect, please acquire and install a single-outlet surge suppressor rated at 1080 joules or higher. Without the recommended surge suppressor, the espresso machine can be damaged at the power switch, the electronics, the heating element, the pressurstat, or the wiring inside. For more information, visit this page Power Protection.
  • Water: To increase the useful life and not damage your espresso machine, please use softened water. Softened water is water without calcium and magnesium, but still has other minerals for espresso extraction. Do not use distilled, purified, or reverse osmosis water as these types of water create oxidation with the metals and cause the same damaging effects as limescale. For more information, visit this page Water Choice.
  • Descaling: We do not recommend descaling unless there is an issue with the espresso machine. Too much descaling can eat away at the metals and gaskets inside an espresso machine. As a preventative measure, we recommend using softened water as explained in the bullet point above.
  • Backflushing: This procedure of cleaning the grouphead will need to be performed from time to time. For more information, visit this page Espresso Machine Backflush – Why 50?

I purchased a BZ07 from you in 2011. The steam joystick no longer works as it gets stuck. It looks like the hole in the nut has worn away over time as well as the grooved screw head that the handle presses against and the screw head within the joystick. I have looked at the parts diagram and I think I need the following parts to repair it, 5222823CM, 5225610 and 5260204DL. I used the parts diagram that covers the manufacturing year of 2011. Could you confirm for me if this is correct?

Sorry, we only confirm the parts when the unit is right in front of the technician when brought/shipped in for service. Unfortunately, we do not want to assume any liability for errors when we do not have the machine in front of us. This is why it is best to look at the diagrams, search for the part numbers, and match the picture of the part with what is inside your machine. Again, sorry, we do not confirm parts.

    2. My boiler is not heating up. I checked the power and I am getting power. The pump seems to be working as water is flowing through the group head. I only got a reading of 20 on my multimeter for the pressure stat so I’m thinking that’s the problem. I checked the control box and I am getting power there. Is there a way to check all the cables in the control box? I also get power to the thermostat under the boiler.

Continuity or ohm reading on the heating element needs to be between 8 and 20.

Sorry, the only way to diagnose the ribbon cable or brain unit is by replacing them one at a time. Pressurstat and safety thermostat needs continuity.

Usually a overheat situation or a surge from the outlet.  When this thermostat trips, there is usually another cause. When this part fails, it can not be reset at all and allows no power in any circumstance. hence, diagnostics are needed to find the cause(s).

    6. Hello, I have a Pasquini Livia G 4. Will this portafilter fit my machine? and is the handle on this holder come straight from the holder or does it have an ergonomic angle to the filter holder? lastly, this an OME holder? thank you?

    8. I have a Bezzera BZ07 espresso machine. It was purchased in Oct 2013 from you. I’m having some water come down with the coffee when I pull shots. Does this mean the two grouphead gaskets need to be replaced? I see one portafilter gasket here https://www.1st-line.com/omega-search/?q=bz07part&post_type=page. The grouphead/porttafilter has two gaskets. SKU 7496092 looks like the top gasket. Do you also have the bottom one?

Typically, just the larger gasket needs replacement.

Please search for part numbers on our web site for availability and pricing. Since there are variations of the same model, we are unable to confirm which parts unless the unit was sent in to us for service.

    10. I bought a Bezzera from you guys back in 2011. The steam pressure is very weak. It looks like I need to increase the pressure. Can you tell me what kind of pressurestat this machine comes with and how to fine tune?

The steam pressure is controlled by the pressurstat. After powering off the machine and allowing it to cool, the top cover would need to be removed, and the screw would need to be turned in the '+' direction in half turn increments. Test. The steam pressure should never exceed 1.2 bar in the boiler pressure gauge.

    12. My machine struggled to make a shot this AM. I tried a second shot and there is flow, but it seems excessive. I was concerned the boiler temp was too high. There seemed to be excessive pressure. The pressure gauge was actually spinning around in circles. I released the pressure immediately. Any idea of the issue?

Yes, it sounds like an overheat problem caused by a faulty pressurstat (PID sensor on PID models). However, the unit should be evaluated by a professional as a simple presurstat replacement will probably go defective pretty quickly (within days or weeks)  if the true cause is not determined.

    14. Hi, Hi, I tried to pose that question in the Q&A section, but it was not saving it. I bought a BZ07 model above from you in 2009. Initially, the steam knob was able to lock down, while steaming. However, Over the years, the steam knob assembly has become loose, not tight. It would not lock in, and felt that knob had to be maneuvered in all directions to get the most steam out of it. Currently, the unit is being repaired locally, but it needs parts (which I am trying to source). Do i need the FULL Steam Wand Assembly Tap, or is one particular product inside that aside, known for needing replacement (like the spring). Do you carry that part in stock? or the full assemble? I tried part No. 5964085 that was listed in schematic drawing for that model and year (but does not show in stock). The steam assembly in stock is SKU: 5964074 but does not mention BZ07 . There is a water wand assembly for BZ07, SKU: 5964069, but not sure if product is interchangeable for water/steam assembly. Thanks in advance

The water valve does not have the lock functionality. If a part does not show up in search, it would need to be special ordered.

Considering the age of your machine and symptoms, it is probably better to replace the entire valve.

    16. Hi Again - thanks for your answer! I don't see a way to continue a thread so I'm just typing here. you said "usually the machine will have hot water back top the tank and/or the boiler is constantly refilling (unless the boiler is way overfilled)". I think there might be a typo in there, or I just don't understand this part of your answer. When you say hot water back top the tank, do you mean that hot water would flow back into the water reservoir during extraction? The boiler doesn't seem to be "constantly refilling" because I don't hear the pump kicking on when the machine is at rest. Pulled a few shots today and everything was normal, but the original issue had occurred several days in a row. The over pressure reading, and water blasting out from below the machine only occurred as I hit the brew button and began extraction - otherwise the machine would sit at 1.5 bar with no unusual activity.

Water from bottom of machine is indicative of the internal boiler overfilling or overheating or both. At your own risk, you can operate the machine with the body panel off to test and see where the leaking water is coming from.

Normal boiler steam pressure on the gauge should max at 1.3. 1.5 is too high and may be opening the safety valve - this mimicking an overfilled boiler leak.

    18. Hi I own the V1 of this machine, purchased from 1st line around 2010 I think. Im pretty comfortable working on it myself - trying to troubleshoot what may be an overfill problem (or maybe something else!). This machine just shows boiler pressure not dual gauge. Machine heats up fine, with normal pressure on guage - but when I pull a shot the gauge goes all the way to max, and water blows out the rubber hose that is under the machine. Can you help me understand how to attack this issue? This machine has seen two drinks a day in home use most days since I got it. I do descale about 2x yr. This just started a few days ago.

There may be an issue with a leak from the heat exchanger into the boiler (new boiler would be needed), or the boiler refill valve is stuck open, which fills the boiler. If the boiler refill valve is stuck open, usually the machine will have hot water back top the tank and/or the boiler is constantly refilling (unless the boiler is way overfilled).
