Rancilio
Miss Silvia Pod-Adaptable Espresso Machines
Version 3, IN STOCK |
| Overview:

NEW- Multi-Directional Steam Wand |
With the Same Quality Internals You Expect. |
Features:
- NEWEST FEATURE! Our Silvias now have a plastic
guide around the steam wand knob so the metal body
does not cut into the knob.
- NEWEST FEATURE! The overpressure
valve is now adjustable on our latest batch of Silvias.
You can adjust the amount of excess water pressure by bringing
out the OPV and tightening the nut. We recommend doing this with
the V512
pressure gauge.
- HOT ITEM! Optional Stainless
Steel Base, exclusively for Miss Silvia, is great to
hold accessories in one draw and use the other draw as a knockout
box to knockout the old grinds from the portafilter handle!
- To avoid burning oneself, our current batch of Silvias are equipped
with a rubber protector
on the steam wand!
- Same reliable internal components of the Rialto/Audrey
(rear view with body panels off)
- Boiler (front view) ,
grouphead (dispenser), steam nozzle,
steam valve , and chrome
filter holder constructed of press forged marine
brass
- Three thermostats - coffee,
steam, and safety thermostats unlike many other espresso
machines which just have two thermostats! Please note the coffee
thermostat is not adjustable - this means that if you want to
change the temperature of the machine, you will need to change
to a higher temeprature thermostat.
- Three way solenoid valve
- this valve opens after you depress the coffee switch to stop
brewing, and it allows the excess water pressure in the grouphead
and portafilter to exit to the drip tray. This is why you may
sometimes find water in the drip tray after brewing.
- Powerful 41 watt electro-magnetic
pump
- Visible heating light for brewing and steaming
- Separate switch for hot water supply (steam knob needs to be
in the open position for water to come out of steam wand)
- Body and control panel made of beautiful satin stainless steel
finish which is easy to clean and mounted on a strong, iron frame
- Includes one (1) chrome-plated,
commercial-sized portafilter, 1-cup
and 2-cup filter baskets, coffee measure scoop, and
coffee Tamper
- Rancilio instructions in English now included by Rancilio S.P.A.
Specifications:
- Measurements: 13 5/8" H x 9 1/2" W x11 3/8" D
- Boiler
- full capacity: 10.5 ounces (our figure may seem lower
than reviewed elsewhere, but we take into consideration the displacement
of water by the existence of the heating element). Without the
heating element, the boiler capacity is about 12 ounces.
- Power supply: 120V 60Hz 1100W Maximum
- Removable water tank capacity
: 67 ounce (two liter) approximate; there is 10 inch clearance
to remove water tank from unit. The reservoir has two hoses -
the longer is for intake of the water into the boiler and the
shorter is for the overpressure valve. Only the longer hose needs
to be submerged.
- 800W Heating Element - When bench testing this unit, we were
surprised of the performance of this powerful 800 watt heating
element (800 watts is the correct wattage for all
110V United States units, and 1100 watts is the correct wattage
for the 230V European units.) Rancilio sales literature, which
was intended for the European market, does not state the wattage
for the 110V units, but the actual units do).
- UL APPROVED
- Effective for purchases made on or after April 1, 2009,
the parts and labor warranty is limited to manufacturer's defect
for a period of an twelve (12) months from the original purchase
date. Exclusions extended to limited warranty.
- REMEMBER: The warranty is provided by the dealer you purchase
from. Hence, a local dealer will not fix your machine without
a charge. Refer to your packing slip as proof of purchase if warranty
service is needed.
Notes:
- To make satisfactory espresso, this unit should be warmed up
with the portafilter handle in the head for at least 20 minutes.
- Some Rancilio Miss Silvia espresso machines "may"
have a white film on the drip tray that can be peeled off upon
arrival.
- We include our own "PRICELESS & ORIGINAL"
6 Page "Single Spaced" Detailed Instructional and Troubleshooting
Guide to get the best use out of Your Silvia!!! In fact,
it has been developed and fine tuned for over the past two years
that one of our customers stated that it allowed him to extract
an excellent espresso in five (5) attempts*. Of course, he purchased
a quality grinder, such as the Rancilio
Rocky .... Not only that, one of our competitors was so
interested in our Silvia instructions, they purchased a Silvia
from us to acquire our instructions as a basis to make their own...
- Awareness statement: Please note that many folks have
purchased this espresso machine due to its popularity on the Internet.
Just because it is popular does not mean it is for everyone. Keep
in mind, espresso extraction is like cooking - meaning proper
technique, ingredients, and tools are required. If your fondness
is for exceptional espresso, you will not achieve it on the Rancilio
Silvia without a very good grinder (generally costs $200 or more
in price) or with pre-ground coffee. The Silvia is not only particular
in the grind fineness, but also the consistency of the fine grind
that is placed into the filter basket.
- IMPORTANT NOTE!
1st-line Equipment, LLC is an authorized Rancilio repair center
and we handle the warranty repair for Our customers' Rancilio
espresso machines! Our master technician alone has over 35 years
in the coffee and espresso repair business! This is why so many
customers choose 1st-line as their premier choice for Rancilio
home products!
- Although Rancilio manufacturers a quality product, Rancilio
requires the retailer or distributor to handle the warranty repair.
Therefore, when shopping competitively, you should ask who will
be handling the warranty work on your machine (is it a third unknown
party or an internet only company with less than 10 years experience?),
Ask how long they have been providing service on espresso machines,
and look on their web site for parts availability!

Traditional Espresso and Cappuccino Machines!
- Please note that we name the current Silvia V2 because this
is our way to determine our Silvia customers who have a different
grouphead and boiler type when compared to the original version
of the Silvia prior to 2007. We learned our lesson this time when
Rancilio changed the boiler in 2001 - it became very difficult
to track custoemrs with a different boilers.
- Many prospective buyers of the Silvia read a lot of information
about it online - only to get scared that it is considered
'finicky'. Finicky can be described to two elements - grind fineness
and temperature. If the grind is not right, the Silvia will produce
a bad espresso - even when this grind works on other machines.
Ths is why we made the statement above about purchasing a good
quality grinder. With regards to the temperature, the Rancilio
Miss Silvia needs to be heated properly as it has a lot of brass.
All this brass makes it more temperature stable than machines
with aluminum or stainless steel boilers. However, there are posts
around the Internet that state it is not as stable. Please note
that these claims are based on comparisons to higher priced machines
which are more stable or to units that have PID controllers. If
this was not true, then 1st-line Equipment would have never sold
thousands of Rancilio Silvias over the last 9 years (written on
March 8, 2008).
- 1st Line Equipment recommends cleaning and descaling the Rancilio
Silvia at least once every month in order to keep it in optimal
working condition.
- Please note that the safety thermostat on the Rancilio Silvia
will NOT automatically shut off the machine if it is accidentally
left on for long periods of time. The thermostat was designed
to protect the machine from exploding or melting down. Turn off
the machine when not in use in order to avoid damaging the boiler.
- PID (Proportional, Integral, Derivative) is currently not an
option at 1st-line Equipment. The reason is due to product liability
in the event that the PID fails or causes damage. We recommend
that you purchase the PID aftermarket. However, you should inquire
aftermarket vendors about product liability insurance.
