| Rocket Giotto Premium II Semi-Commercial
Espresso Machine
Overview:
This version has the following improvements over
the first version of the Giotto Plus/Premium:
- All stainless steel bodywork (AISI 304).
- Commercial brewing head. Weight 4.05 kg (9 lbs).
- Dual pre-infusion system: mechanical pre-infusion system with
progressively working piston and static pre-infusion chamber.
This reflects into smooth coffee extraction with optimum aroma,
body and “crema”.
- Superior layout of thermosyphon system resulting in optimum
extraction. Generously dimensioned. 20% higher volume as with
comparable machines on the market.
- Boiler is made of pure copper (Cu. 99.9%) with a lead free,
heavy brass end plate to increase the thermal retention and the
steam power by approximately 40% versus other boiler systems.
Boiler is nickel plated for protection against copper oxidation.
Boiler capacity: 1.8 liters.
- Giotto now come with a full size commercially rated pressure
switch (0,035°C temperature differential tolerance). Optional
for some markets.
- Patented cool-touch technology: anti-burn (only the nozzle
gets hot); easy cleaning as milk doesn't bake on wand; more efficient
steam, as heat is not dissipated around the wand. Steam nozzle
designed for easy milk foaming with fine texture.
- Electronically controlled microprocessor automatic level control
of boiler and fresh water reservoir, with low water level indication
warning system.
- Optimized boiler capacity to thermosyphon system ratio. Results
in fast heat up time with 1200 watt element, made from special
long life material (5 times longer than normal elements).
- Fully certified commercially rated safety valve.
- Full size commercial one and two cup filter handles, and baskets.
Full training guide and instructions.
- Buyer Advice: When shopping for the premium version II of the
Giotto or Cellini, make sure the company states Premium Plus II
or Premium II. If they do nto state this, then it is a version
1. In addition, the version II machines have a full round gauge
where the version I has a half moon gauge.
Features:
- Immediate availability of espresso coffee, steam or hot water.
- Small lever on brew group engages micro switch to pump water
through grouphead and coffee in filter handle.
- Incorporated true Faema E61 grouphead that has water in the
heat exchanger flowing through the grouphead for maximum temperature
stability when extracting espresso.
- Auto water refill circuitry maintains water level in internal
boiler.
- Water reservoir removable for cleaning and refill.
- Sensor in water reservoir to inactivate machine when water
is low.
- All stainless steel finished with a mirror polish.
- Nicely fit boiler gauge shows the pressure in the boiler which
is indirectly related to the temperature.
- Best quality vacuum breaker valve.
- Best quality expansion valve.
- Precise sensor directly in the water tank. Some espresso machines
use a magnet which sticks in the water tank.
- Removable drip tray and cover for easy cleaning.
- Medium-sized gauge on front panel to measure boiler pressure.
- Internal pressure regulator monitors pressure in boiler.
- Safety valve in boiler to deplete steam pressure when over
allowable limits.
- Upgraded pressure regulator.
- No-burn multi-directional steam and water wands.
- Larger steam and hot water valves when compared to Giotto Classic.
- Superior portafilter handles with respect to structural integrity.
- Internal filter to capture large particles, liquid level sensor
shuts off machine when there is no water in removable reservoir,
heavy weight bleeder valve to relieve vacuum pressure which builds
when machine cools down, and heavy duty expansion safety relief
valve that opens when the too much pressure is built up in the
boiler.
- Accessories: Measuring spoon, bakelite tamper, single spout
filter holder, 1-cup filter basket, dual spout filter holder,
2-cup filter basket, and instruction manual.
Specifications:
- Measurements: 13.8" H x 16.8" W x 13" (350mm
H x 425mm W x 330mm D).
- Power: 1200 watts, 120 volts, 60 hertz, 15 amp.
- Weight: 46.3 pounds (21 kilograms).
- Water reservoir capacity: 2.9 liters.
- Boiler capacity: 1.8 liters.
- Ulka EX5 Brass Pump: 41 watts (please note that there is very
minute difference in noise levels when compared to a 52 watt pump
- there is practically no difference in espresso quality found
in the cup).
- Effective for purchases made on or after July 22, 2007,
the parts and labor warranty is limited to manufacturer's defect
for a period of an twenty-four (24) months from the original purchase
date.
Exclusions to
extended limited warranty.
- ETL Listed.
- Dimensions (W x D X H) 33 x 42.5 x 35 cm.
Notes:
- We have improved the internal packaging to avoid machine damage
during shipping!
- The instructions state the year of manufacturer is 1997. This
is when the Giotto was first produced. Our inventory turnover
occurs several times a year so that our customers get the latest
and greatest production model.
- Please be aware that the instruction manual makes reference
to black handles in the reservoir. The Giotto Premium uses a superior
low water sensor that does not need these handles in the reservoir.
The black tabs and rods in the reservoir were only part of the
Classic Giottos.
- Giotto has nickel plating which adds to the durability of the
tubing and boiler. We have recently discovered that some espresso
machines use a lot less tubing for the heat exchanger in their
machines. What does this mean? First, the tubing is narrower.
The narrower tubes are also more likely for limescale problems
when compared to larger tubes. Second, the tubing is shorter when
compared to all other heat exchange machines. This means that
the thermal stability of the shot is affected more quickly as
there is less water in the heat exchanger due to less length of
tubing. Also, the less water heats up faster which means more
cooling flushes.
- Water Intake Expansion Hose - This hose is held in by friction
in the top left corner of the machine. Its purpose is to displace
excess water pressure in the water reservoir catch basin every
time the water reservoir is removed or placed back into position.
This hose sometimes falls off its holder in shipping. If it falls
off, there will be leakage of water from the machine when powered
off. To resolve, please remove the 4 screws off the top cover
and pull the water reservoir and top cover off. You will probably
find a hose on the floor. This hose needs to be placed into the
slot in the upper left hand corner of the machine. Once this accomplished,
put the cover, the 4 screws, and water tank in place. The leaking
should stop.

Service Notes:
Backflushing: This machine should be backflushed minimum once every 50 espresso extractions using Cafiza (our instructions included with purchase). This is only for cleaning the oils fromt he grouphead.
Descaling: This really is for internally cleaning of the machine. Recommended once every 3 months using Dezcal. However, it can be more or less time depending upon the amount of magnesium and calcium is in your water, how often you use the machine, and how much time you leave the machine powered on each day. Join our email list to get monthly reminders on how to descale the different machines we sell.
Gauge Replacement:
Please make sure you disconnect the machine from the power supply
1. Remove the water reservoir cover
2. Remove the water reservoir (pulls straight up)
3. Where the reservoir was sitting you will see 2 screws that need
to be removed
4. The top panel of the machine will now lift off
5. Now remove the right hand side panel by;
A. Loosen off the two bolts on the bottom of the panel under the
machine
B. Inside the machine, from the top, there are nuts in the front
and back corners. Remove the front nut and loosen the rear nut (7mm)
C. Remove the side panel
6. Remove the 13mm fitting where the gauge fits onto the boiler.
7. Undo the 14mm nut on the back of the gauge and remove the bracket
8. Remove the gauge through the front on the machine
9. Reassemble
