Another industry first! A cover is placed over the water tank to not allow dust and other pollutants enter the water in the reservoir. A RECHARGEABLE water softener minimizes the amount of limescale build inside the machine - limescale is the most frequent cause or problems on espresso machines. The small hose going into the water tank is from the expansion relief valve - BASICALLY, any water pressure that exceeds 12 bar when extracting espresso.
